The department is the base for the preparation of applicants for the higher education “Doctor of Philosophy” in specialties 015 “Vocational training” and 011 “Educational, pedagogical sciences”.

On the basis of UEPA, an educational and methodological laboratory on the problems of engineering and pedagogical education was created jointly with the Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, currently headed by a doctor of pedagogical sciences and professor. N. A. Bryukhanova. This laboratory coordinates research work on higher education issues carried out in the departments of the Academy, and also collaborates with other universities of Ukraine in order to collect and systematize information on research in the field of engineering and pedagogical education in the whole country.

Much attention is paid to the scientific work of students.

The department has a student scientific circle:

“Pedagogical professional education of the XXI century”, more than 40 students annually take part in the work of the group;

During the school year in the scientific circle classes are held, which addresses the following issues:

Vocational education as an important component of the modern development of society.
Students’ research work is an important component of the formation of professional competencies of future specialists.
Features of the organization and conduct of pedagogical research
The use of mathematical statistics methods in processing the results of pedagogical research and others.
In the work of the cathedral section of the UEPA student scientific conference every year all the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department and more than 20 students participate. Students annually make more than 20 reports, and abstracts are printed in the abstracts of the UEPA student scientific conference.

The management of the scientific work of students is carried out by almost all teachers of the department. Students of all faculties of UEPA full-time and part-time forms of education are involved in scientific work. Student research papers cover general pedagogical problems, problems of training and education in vocational schools, problems of developing and implementing technologies of vocational training.

Every year, the department holds scientific student conferences and a competition of scientific works. Winners take part in the All-Ukrainian competitions for the best student scientific work. Also, on the basis of the department of pedagogy and methods of vocational training, competitions on pedagogy are held, in which more than 200 students take part.

According to the general results, students with the highest points are recommended to participate in the All-Ukrainian Olympiads.
